Hi. My name, of course, is Mark Dengel. I teach seventh grade middle school science at Park View Middle School in Cranston, RI. I have been teaching for nearly 20 years. I live in Warwick, RI which borders Cranston to the south. I have a wife, Bernice, and three children, Alexis 19, Mitchell, 16, and Sabrina 12. While my family keeps me very busy, I like to write young adult novels in the summer. They know it takes time and concentration so I only work on the story for a couple of hours a day. But while I'm cleaning the pool, or the dishes, I'm thinking about what happens next.
My family is a great help. They provide inspiration and they often keep me zoned in on the characters because they are teenagers and they do teenagers type stuff. My oldest daughter, Alexis, drew the cover for Screaming Eagles, and my wife and daughters both help with editing. They give me a good barometer on what story lines work and those that do not.

This is my family at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI.
